Owner and Chief Geologist
At the age of 17, I started working in the accounting office at Younts Energy and Arkansas Energy in Alice, Texas. Once I graduated high school I moved to Australia for a year to live with my aunt and decide where I wanted to steer my life. Here, I learned how to bartend and run a pub, make goat milk soap on an organic farm, and drive on the opposite side of the road while dodging kangaroos at the same time.
Once it was time to decide what I wanted to go to college for I went with the most comfortable option, to be a CPA. I did two full semesters before realizing I loved the math part but couldn’t see myself doing this my entire life. I was convinced by my geology professor to go with something I love and switch majors. I paid my way through college debt free by bartending, which also funded my first oil and gas lease.
Funding my first oil and gas prospect solidified my passion for the work I do every day. I take great pride in overseeing every step of the process personally to provide the best results possible for my clients.

I partner with my mentor and independent geologist, Jay McGovern, who has been generating conventional oil and gas prospects since 1982. I work on well-log correlations and subsurface mapping, canvas software, title research, lease negotiations, oil and gas prospect funding, and occasionally minor legal skills. I started Ausmex Exploration LLC in June 2016. This name originates from the fact that my mom is Australian and my dad is Mexican.
